Great episode – made me laugh out loud several times (got some odd looks from people on the train). Such a shame they blew Edge of Darkness but when you say it is the worst remake ever – have you seen Stallone's “Get Carter”?

Good point Tim – I haven't seen the Stallone; but am re-watching the original 'Edge of Darkness' this week, and am consistently astonished by how they appear to have used the rule of deleting all the good stuff when adapting the remake…

Am adding GET CARTER to my Netflix queue right now…

+ Gareth is right – it's like they went through the original series, made a note of all the best scenes, and those were the ones they cut out from the remake:

how in the h**l do you not include the break-in of the mine/nuclear facility? it is MADE for the big screen! sigh.

I have only watched the original once (back in 85 when it was first shown) but some of it has stayed with me. In particular – Bob Peck and Jo Don Baker, the mood and music, the scene in the mine/nuclear facility and the scene in the daughter's bedroom (somehwat embarassing as I was watching it with my parents). PS re “Am adding GET CARTER to my Netflix queue” – just because it's Lent don't feel you have to punish yourself excessively.

and of course you list the most memorable scenes = the ones that didn't make it into the remake.
