Werner Herzog’s ‘Bad Lieutenant’ Trailer Online

May 28th, 2009by Jett Loe · 6 Comments

Werner Herzog is a giant – unique – the artist as shaman – magic giver.  Do you want to make a film?  Think you can?  Remember what Werner says: “Unless you know the hearts of men you have no right to make a film”.

So.

He has made a remake/re-imagining/re-boot of ‘Bad Lieutenant’.  Yes.  Miracles are possible.  Every day.  Wonder working miracles.

Just knowing that Herzog is out there makes my day a little brighter – my responsibilities a little clearer – I agree totally with the man when he says the world is starved for images – until now I didn’t realise that what the planet needed was Nicolas Cage as an out of control, cracked-out, homicide cop with chronic back pain.

Oh by the way:  this trailer, (and I assume the film), has what is possibly the greatest line in cinema I’ve ever heard.  I won’t spoil it for you – you must to decide for yourself to watch or not to watch.

Nick Cage should probably ALWAYS be cast as the drunk/drugged-out __________ . Few are better.

I've always been a big fan of “Vampire's Kiss” (I think that's the title?) which I think goes with what you're saying about him – 'schlock' type performance, but fun and entertaining to me.

And I don't know if you finished your thought on the 'line' in the trailer or not, but you're right, it is fantastic.
