Special thanks goes to TFT Listener ‘Hiddenloop’ who let me know about this wonderful find via Twitter:
100 Illustrated Horror Film Posters: Part 1
100 Illustrated Horror Film Posters: Part 2
Now, they’re not all horror – some are science fiction – but what I love about them in the main is their shameless use of sex and violence/the threat of death, (must have sex now/procreate before we die!).
I’m a sucker for the straplines used in these posters:
‘TRIPLE DISTILLED HORROR…as powerful as a vat of boiling acid!’
‘INDESCRIBABLE. INDESTRUCTIBLE! NOTHING CAN STOP IT!’
‘SHEER TERROR! Filmed without the benefit of cages, mechanical sharks or other protective devices.’
and of course Atragon…because, after all, it’s in ‘Colorscope’!!! (this website by the way is brought to you in PIXELVISION).
(And, just so you know, the film C.H.U.D. may say on the poster that it’s about ‘Cannibalistic Humunoid Underground Dwellers’, but those of us who’ve seen the film know it’s really about ‘Contaminated Hazordous Urbun Disposal! [I saw the film once, when it came out in the 80's and I still remember that!].

To dispel any hidden myths, hiddenloop is in fact me, long time listener to The film talk and LTA – matt (from dublin)
I've had a random collage of these as my desktop wallpaper setup, to the confuse-ment of my work colleagues.

How many different “visions” and “scopes” do you think there are?
There's “Panavision”, “Colorscope” (as you point out above)….even the old “Tom & Jerry” cartoons I watch w/ my daughters are labeled as “filmed in 'Cinemascope'”….
How many do you think you can rattle off? (or any other TFT reader/listener)
