Gareth Higgins is Wrong About ‘Live Free or Die Hard’

July 16th, 2007by Jett Loe · 5 Comments

FilmTalk’s very own Gareth Higgins has written about ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ on the always interesting ‘God’s Politics’ blog.  I of course disagree with him completely:

Gareth Higgins: Live Free, or Watch ‘Die Hard’

Ok. But admit this: the first Die Hard is an amazing piece of entertainment. The 4.0 version is just so-so, and less ironic and self-conscious of the stupidty of it’s own plot (a redeeming quality of the Mctiernan films). Greetings from dangerous but very cool Mexico city, where you can die quite easily, I must say.

It’s been too long since we’ve heard from you guys… I dying to hear about “Once” – still mourning the fact that it’s replaced Magnolia as Gareth’s favourite – I’m gonna need some reasons!

Yes, I know it’s been a while, (in fact I’ve got at least 4 episodes of Film Talk ‘in the can’…just been too too busy to edit and upload – must do better).

And having bumped into Dr Higgins a couple of weekends ago at a birthday party … what’s stopping you releasing some of those “classic” episodes?

    Time. Just time.
